Mackenzie and Taylor have been in foster care for six years and are anxiously awaiting a forever family to adopt them. Doris and Peter are empy-nesters, looking for a life of community and meaning as they live out their retirement years.

Buckner offers a wide variety of services to children, families and single parents in the Longview area with the goal of building the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life and fulfill their God-given potential.

In Longview, we provide:

**Foster care and adoption**

Buckner provides the training and resources needed to become a family to a child for a season through foster care or a forever family through domestic foster care or adoption. Children in these programs are most often referred through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services due to experiencing abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also respond to mothers experiencing an unplanned pregnancy with counseling and support. Learn more by calling 903-757-9383.

**Buckner Family Hope Center® in Longview**

The Family Hope Center programs offer child-centered, family-focused places where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential. The key to the succes of the Family Hope Center is found in combining effective programs and passionate people to help families that are experiencing poverty, family issues and lack of services.

Our programs seek to engage through family assistance and community events; equip families through education, financial empowerment, child and youth development and spiritual development; elevate families through family coaching, counseling and spiritual enrichment.

**Buckner Family Pathways®**

We provide single-parent families the opportunity to live in a safe, secure environment while completing their educational or vocational goals and learning the skills they need to be self-sufficient. Families are provided support through access to affordable housing, financial assistance, counseling, spiritual growth and case management services.

**OUR MISSION**

In November of 2000, United Way of Smith County identified the need for an education and training resource to foster excellence in area nonprofits and the East Texas Center for Nonprofits (ETCN) was established.

We are committed to helping nonprofits throughout East Texas by providing management training and coaching services to ensure a stable and sustainable future. Last year ETCN offered 350 training hours and served 2071 individual nonprofit professionals representing over 280 organizations.  Our onsite library and personalized services in the areas of Board Governance, Strategic Planning, Grant Research, and 501c3 help strengthen nonprofits by providing essential tools and resources they need to succeed.  The Center provides a varied range of management expertise, assistance, and services for staff, boards, and volunteers, and Membership helps us to provide them for a low or even no-fee.

Dedicated to building a community of strong executive and board leadership, ETCN has initiated a Nonprofit Management Certificate course to develop leadership skills of executive management in the nonprofit sector and will present the first East Texas Nonprofit Lecture Series as a new opportunity for our East Texas nonprofits.

**5-Year Plan**
Longview’s cultural district was designated by the Texas Commission on the Arts September 5, 2019.  Arts!Longview is the non-profit organization charged with implementing the goals of the cultural district.  See the district's 5-year plan.

**History of Arts!Longview Organization**
Arts!Longview is a 501(c)3 organization formed in 2019. The organization was created after an inspirational Longview Chamber of Commerce Inter-City visit to Waco in 2018, which included their cultural district. Following the trip, a local task force was created to pursue the possibility of a cultural district designation from the Texas Commission on the Arts. In 2019, the task force applied for and was granted acceptance as an official Texas Cultural District. The nonprofit was formed to oversee the ongoing effort to promote and develop the district.

The Longview Arboretum and Nature Center is a privately managed arboretum garden in the heart of Longview. Like many other arboretums across our nation, a respectful partnership exists between the City of Longview and the Board of the Longview Arboretum and Nature Center regarding the sustainability of this massive endeavor. This public/private partnership allows for cultivation, development, private investment, and collaborative maintenance on 26-acres between the Longview Convention Complex and Grace Creek tributary.

Opened Saturday, November 2, 2019, the Longview Arboretum began it's role as a privately managed arboretum devoted to revealing the unique eco-system of East Texas in a beautiful and thoughtful manner. The mission to educate our community, stimulate the senses, and create a positive relationship to nature is one that the Board of Directors pursues for the future. Our executive director, Steven Chamblee directs the growth, plantings, events, and exhibits of the Longview Arboretum. Please stop by and say hello if you see him in the gardens.

This ever-growing garden is a living testament to a love of community, and the soul enriching quality of spending time in nature.

**ABOUT US**
From the first day we met in lawn chairs at the home of Lynn & Linda Spruiell in Longview, Texas in June 1983, until now, the mission of New Beginnings has been to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We voluntarily band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to the lost.

Over the years, New Beginnings has continued to grow and reach families. We have experienced exciting changes and additions in our ministries, a growing staff, and expanded across East Texas. New Beginnings is ONE church, in TWO locations, with THREE Campuses: Longview Campus, Gilmer Campus, and NB Español (meets at the Longview location). We pray for more campuses to come! God continues to bless our church.

In short, New Beginnings is Jesus-ruled, elder-led, staff-directed, deacon-served, and congregationally approved and accountable.

**WHAT WE BELIEVE**
As its doctrinal statement, this church subscribes to the “Baptist Faith and Message” as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000. We voluntarily band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The Ordinances of the church are Believer’s Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Hannah House Ministries was founded in 1999 by Glennis and Gary Woodall. Glennis had a passion to love God and to reach women who have found themselves in a crisis pregnancy situation.  Hannah House was located in Glen Rose, Texas until 2010 when they relocated to Gilmer, Texas. 

Today, Melanie and Alan Wright oversee Hannah House.  Hannah House Ministries has now expanded on the 60 acres by adding the Gathering Place.  The Gathering Place, finished in 2021, can now house up to four women who are needing a home during their pregnancies. 

Hannah House welcomes each woman where they are on their journey.  Hannah House is located on 60 acres of beautiful and peaceful countryside. This provides our girls with the opportunity to listen and hear God, clear of distractions, so they are able to make the best decisions for their child and themselves.
